Welcome from Elizabeth Bayerl!

WELCOME
Juniors and seniors, welcome back to E8 at Marathon High School for the 2004-2005 academic year. This may be a bittersweet year for some of you seniors, since you're the last class who will graduate from the old Marathon High School. By the end of May 2005, we're all hoping here that parts of the school will be torn down to make way for a new school. E-wing certainly won't be around much longer, so check out the pictures.
I invite you back to a new year of exploration in contemporary American history, politics and economics. I look forward to many discussions about a major upcoming event in our society: the election of a new president of the United States. Many analysts believe that this is one of the most important presidential elections of the last 50 years. We will be discussing why and talking about the different futures of the United States, politically and economically, for much of the fall. Get ready to debate. See you in class!
CLASSROOM PHILOSOPHY
There are many paths to success and many kinds of intelligences. My classes are intended to help you develop several kinds of skills. In addition to building on your knowledge of government and economics, you will be involved in special group projects, debates, and discussions on a variety of topics. The many types of tasks in the classroom will help you build your skills as productive U.S. citizens, whatever personal and professional paths you choose in your future.
